OUR STORY

Turning a long time passion into a family flower farm

A Seasonal Flower Farm and Pumpkin Patch that started with an over run farm house and a dream of improving the property while raising our little girls.

ABOUT BROKEN OAK ACRES

Broken Oak Acres is a small family run flower farm located along the Sacramento river in Glenn. What started as a few pumpkins on the side of the road with a cash box on a hay bale has turned into a full time job. My husband and I planted the first few rows of pumpkins out back in an overgrown field shortly after moving here and giving birth to our oldest daughter. Since then the farm has made numerous transitions from dabbling in the wedding and event industry and attending farmers markets to opening an onsite farm stand. My passion is providing the local community with a wide variety of specialty cut flowers alongside traditional garden favorites. We specialize in growing spring blooms and our main season is February through May. We believe in providing our community with the highest quality goods, grown with care. The goal of our farm is to grow and sell the freshest flowers possible at reasonable prices in order to slowly repair and improve this old farmhouse and its surrounding outbuildings. My hope is that you will come experience the farm and its many local offerings both those grown here and those sourced from other small local vendors showcased in our tiny farm stand.

SEASONAL BEAUTY,
LOCALLY GROWN

I invite you to visit our farm stand! It is a small honor stand just off Highway 45 that hosts a number of local goods alongside our cut flowers. Throughout most of the year you can find locally roasted coffee, letter pressed cards, local honey, dehydrated sourdough starter, and if you visit on a Saturday you will find fresh baked goods after 9am.

Who am I?

My name is Lyndsay and I am the Head Farmer

If you send a message, make an order, call, or visit the farm you will likely be talking to me, Lyndsay. I am honored to grow and arrange flowers for all of you with the gifts God has given me. I started my flower arranging journey at age six, when my grandmother entered me in the local fair floriculture competition. My grandparents were a huge part of my life growing up and constantly encouraged me while allowing me to pick and arrange stems from their yard whenever I wanted. My Grandmother has arranged the weekly church bouquet for as long as I can remember, and her mother did it before her. My Grandfather's parents owned a nursery that I never saw, but I guess you could say that the love of plants and growing things is in my blood. After marrying David I continued my love of gardening with a small home garden he helped make me before we bought this farm and moved. Once here, one of the very first things we did was clear a spot for a little family fruit orchard and another garden. We have two beautiful, smart little girls that love being outside with us and can both make lovely little arrangements already. Occasionally you may find their flowers for sale in the stand when they are working towards something. In my spare time I enjoy cooking and paddleboarding the river with my family and friends. I have a love affair with fresh fruit and try to add a few new trees to the farm every season. I enjoy canning and preserving as well but laundry is the worst. I enjoy learning new things unless they involve tech. If you visit you will likely see my faithful little dog Jess, who is often by my side and our fluffy cat Julia, who, given the chance will happily eat your food and snag a pet.
